Seventh-Day Adventist Church

Welcome

Gerry Chudleigh
Gerry Chudleigh, director, Recorder publisher

The Communication Department is responsible for all official communication and public news releases for the Pacific Union Conference. Media used include the Pacific Union Recorder (a monthly print and online news magazine), email broadcasts, periodic seminars, radio, television and newspapers.

After graduating from La Sierra and Andrews Universities, Chudleigh pastored for two years in the Washington Conference. In 1969 he began conference youth leadership, serving as youth director in the Oregon, Texas and Southeastern California conferences.

In 1984 he became vice president for marketing and communication for Pacific Living Centers, the retirement living division of Adventist Health, headquartered in Roseville, Calif. When Adventist Health phased out their retirement division in 1988, Chudleigh moved to Faith For Today as development director. He soon added manager and director of public relations to his job description.

Chudleigh served as associate director of the Church Resources Consortium (CRC) for the North American Division from 1997 through 2002. Though employed by the NAD, he worked from a rented office in the Pacific Union Conference headquarters in Westlake Village. In December 2002  he became communication director of the Pacific Union Conference, which required him to move down one floor and to the other side of the building.

Chudleigh’s wife Mary is associate director of development at It Is Written television ministry in Simi Valley, California.

Alicia Adams
Alicia Adams, associate director, Recorder editor

Alicia Adams joined the Recorder staff in late 2002 as managing editor, and became editor in March 2004.

Adams graduated from Southern Adventist University in 1997 with bachelor’s degrees in News Editorial Journalism and Religious Studies, with a minor in Public Relations. From Southern, she went to the seminary at Andrews University where she completed a master’s degree in Mission Studies with a minor in Christian Ministry. She also focused on Church Growth and became certified as a Natural Church Development consultant.

Before joining the Recorder staff, Adams edited the Amazing Facts magazine, Inside Report, for two years. She then worked as a graphic designer in Sacramento and served as communication director and newsletter editor for Sacramento Central Church.

She was born at Andrews A.F.B., Maryland, and grew up in Niceville, Fla., with her parents, Richard and Mary Alice (Wheeler) Goree, but loves the diverse people and geography of the Pacific Union.

When Adams is not editing the Recorder she and husband, Ken, will most likely be walking their Doberman, traveling (or wishing they were), or looking for scuba diving opportunities.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Recorder team at the union office,” says Adams. “All the staff here are wonderful. It’s a joyful atmosphere!”
